I had already had the idea of starting a business in my head for some time, I just didn’t dare… I thought it was too risky. With the pandemic, at my work they sent us all to work from home. You can imagine how complicated it was at first for me, because I have a 3 year old daughter and I struggled a bit. After I got the hang of it, everything flowed super well until a few months later, because of the virus, the workload dropped a lot and, like many people, I feared the worst… I talked to my BFF Alejandra and she told me that there was a very strong trend of women entrepreneurs in Mexico and suggested me to become a NENI. I was like, “what is that? Ale told me that it means “new internet business entrepreneurs”. I had no idea how or where to start, but I knew I had to be prepared in case I lost my job. Talking with my friends they told me that I should sell my famous lemon cupcake, because not even the best bakery in Polanco had one as delicious as mine and it was sure to sell well. The truth is I don’t know why I didn’t start my own baking business if it has always been something I’ve loved since I was a little girl. That’s how I started my career as NENI with “Sweet Spot”. At first I only made my cupcakes and offered them in a Whatsapp group in my neighborhood and sales were a little weak, but after selling the first one there was no turning back. They recommended me a lot and obviously I was very happy. I bought more materials and baking tools to make more desserts, other sweets and continue selling in the area and the truth is that I was not doing badly, but I was not earning enough to encourage me to quit my job and I felt that I was missing the cherry on the cake. One day, talking about my new life as a NENI with Ale, she told me that Andres, her little brother (well her brother, but I’ve known him since he was a baby) was advising other people who, like me, were starting their own businesses. “No manches, talk to Andrew so he can help me with Sweet Spot”. When we got together he told me about how his godfather’s tacos shop had done after setting up their website and how having my website would improve my online presence, which would help my business have more visibility and give more confidence to potential new customers. I didn’t give it a second thought and said “I want that!” and that’s how we created www.sweetspot.MX and the good stuff started. I was no longer requested only in my neighborhood, but all over the city, I was even contacted by banquets and several restaurants to sell my famous lemon cupcake, all because they found me on the internet and I… scratched! I have done so well that I was not fired from my job, I resigned so I could dedicate myself 100% to my business and to what has always been my passion. Thanks to my Andrew and my MX domain today Sweet Spot is “on the verge of candy”. Just like Fer, make yourself known on the internet with .mx domains and EMPRENDEDURÍSIMO with .MX.
